Due to licensing restrictions, remote access to library databases is unavailable to retirees. Only authorized users (currently enrolled students and employees) are allowed remote (off-campus) access to the subscription databases. However, most of the license agreements allow for in-library use of the databases by community users.
You can visit the Collier Library and ask the Help Desk for a Public Computer Pass. Make sure to have some form of ID (student ID, Mane Card, Drivers License, Friends of the Library Card) to show the staff member at the desk. You can use the public computers for up to two hours per day.
If you are a resident of Alabama, you can access databases provided by the the Alabama Virtual Library from your home computer. Visit https://www.avl.lib.al.us/ for more information about the available resources and how to access them. If you are not a resident of Alabama, check with your local public library to see what resources may be available through your state.
