The term "scholarly articles" refers to articles that are written by experts in a field or discipline.  These articles may also be refered to as peer-reviewed, refereed, or adjudicated articles. These types of articles  serve as  a primary mechanism of scholarly communication.

In these articles scholars report the results of their research.  The articles are often lengthly, are published in professional journals, include findings and references, and have been reviewed by other experts prior to publication.  These types of articles can be found in our databases, often in full text.
